Construction To Begin On Hares Hill Road Bridge In East Pikeland

Detours will be in place and additional traffic should be expected in the area.

EAST PIKELAND, PA — Construction will begin next week on the Hares Hill Road Bridge over French Creek in East Pikeland Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced.

Crews will being rehabilitation work on Monday, June 11, officials said. Work will include reconstructing damaged wingwalls, replacing stone masonry parapets with reinforced concrete, and installing a brown guiderail to protect the parapets.

A historic plaque will be reinstalled, and a new plaque marking this 2018 rehabilitation will also be installed. The 105-foot bridge was built in 1867.

The road will be shut down and detoured between Camp Council Road and Irish Way, authorities said. Motorists will be redirected to Route 113 and Route 23.

About 4,895 vehicles use the bridge per day.
