Dinniman Confident Route 23 Bridge Could Be Completed In September

At least one local official seems confident that Phoenixville residents won’t have to deal with the most significant cause of traffic around the borough by the end of this month.

State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D-Chester) believes that the Route 23 Bridge over Pickering Creek will be completed by the end of September.

“I’ve kept up with the progress on the bridge and I believe, barring any unforeseen obstacles, it can be completed by the end of September – more than half a year ahead of schedule,” Dinniman said on his Facebook page Tuesday.

Slow and steady progress has been made over the bridge in the past several months.

In July, beams were laid out over the bridge, a move which matched up with timelines that had been laid out by lawmakers.

On Tuesday, the bridge seemed to finally be taking shape, with much of the surface already laid down.

Dinniman had said in July that he was working with PennDOT to get the project completed by September instead of November.

Crews on site have reported that they were shooting for a completion date of September 25.
