The $192,000 grant, awarded from the C2P2 fund, will help the Township realize a goal of creating a space that features an ADA walking path, dog park, community garden, and native meadowland for East Pikeland and area residents.

The Township acquired the property as open space in 2005 when the Kimberton Meadows subdivision was approved, but officially took ownership of the property in 2019 with the intention of creating new public recreation space.

The East Pikeland Park and Recreation Board has been working tirelessly to improve and expand East Pikeland’s park and recreation facilities in order to support the growing population and increased need for public recreation space. This new park property will join the ranks of the Township’s popular Kimberton Park and the French Creek Trail. A new 115-acre park, Hidden River Park & Preserve, is also being developed along Spring City Road.

The public is invited to participate in a virtual public comment meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 1 at 7pm to give their feedback on the draft plan for this new park. The plan and presentation will be available on the Township’s website following the meeting. Comments will be accepted until October 9. Visit www.eastpikeland.org for connection information or to view the plan.
