Egypt Road Construction Adds Significantly To Phoenixville Traffic

Route 29 leaving the borough has been severely impacted by the roadwork.

Overnight construction to resurface Egypt Road is adding significantly to traffic in the borough and nearby areas.

By 9 p.m. Monday night, traffic leaving Phoenixville was backed up from Egypt Road all the way back through Mont Clare and across the bridge.

If at all possible, residents should avoid leaving Phoenixville using Route 29 for the duration of repairs and resurfacing.

The $2.8 million project began on July 26, and though the flow of traffic is being alternated to allow one direction of traffic to drive at a a time, residents are expressing concerns that the road is open at all. Keeping the road open means that motorists will turn down it and use it, therefore backing up traffic onto Route 29 and significantly affecting all vehicles that want to leave the borough in that direction after 7 p.m.

In total, seven miles of Egypt Road are being repaired between Route 29 and West Norriton.
