Enrollment Opens for 2016 Phoenixville Health Leadership Academy

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — For the 14th year in a row, the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation has funded a program called the Community Health Leadership Academy, which helps to identify, train and empower Phoenixville regional citizens for leadership roles that promote the community’s health and advance the quality of life, according to a press release.

This program is geared toward community volunteers and helps to give them a deeper understanding about their community’s assets, strengths, challenges and needs, all while helping them develop leadership skills that will enable them to affect positive change in the community, the release states.

The curriculum covers diversity issues, community collaborations, communication and branding, project planning, good citizenship, ethics, public speaking and much more, according to organizers.

The curriculum wraps up with each student designing and implementing a community service project as a service-learning tool. The Foundation offers financial stipends to assist with this project, the release states.

A graduate from the 2015 program states, “I learned a lot about the nonprofit world and how leadership can impact the community. The experience helped me to really focus on what I want to achieve and the value of connecting and collaborating with others.”

The Academy will be offered on Tuesday evenings beginning September 13th through November 15th from 6 – 8 p.m. and are held at the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation at 821 Gay Street.
