Hazardous Waste Collection To Be Held For Montco, Chesco, Bucks, Delco Residents

Dispose of hazardous waste for free this month.

POTTSTOWN, PA — A Hazardous Waste Collection for towns throughout the Philadelphia region will be held in Pottstown on Saturday, May 20.

The event will be held at the Owen J. Roberts Middle School, which is located on 981 Ridge Road in Pottstown.

Unlike specific county events, this event is open to residents in the broader region.

According to organizers:

"No more than 220 pounds or 25 gallons of Hazardous Products per household will be accepted. Hazardous cleaning and maintenance products will have the following cautionary words on the label: poisonous, caustic, toxic, flammable, ignitable, corrosive, reactive, caution, warning, danger or hazardous. Many items, such as fertilizer or cleaning products, should just be used as they were designed to be used. Businesses and contractors will be turned away.

"The following items will not be accepted: latex paint, used motor oil, tires, asbestos, explosives, gas cylinders, household alkaline batteries, PCBs, medical waste, unidentified waste, commercial and industrial waste, ammunition, computers, TV’s, electrical appliances and appliances containing Freon."

The event is only open to residents, not businesses or contractors.
