UPDATE: Helicopter Hovering Over Bridge Street, Police Search In Progress

A helicopter and several police cruisers were involved in a search in Phoenixville early Wednesday afternoon.

Sirens were heard throughout the borough, and residents looked above to the helicopter soaring over downtown.

The helicopter was circling around the old steel mill at about 1:17 p.m.

Eyewitnesses said that a chase began near Church and Bridge street when a suspect leapt out of a window. Police have not confirmed any details.

Police presence was focused on Bridge Street near the intersection with Hall Street at around 1:45 p.m., where several police cruisers were parked, and about a dozen officers were standing.

One police SUV was parked in front of a home a block away on the corner of Bridge and Church.

All streets are open.
