Hundreds Lose Power In Phoenixville During Heat Wave
The outage came at a poor time, given the oppressive heat.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Hundreds of homes were without power around Phoenixville on Tuesday due to damage to PECO equipment. Several area traffic lights were compromised as well.
The outages began when a fire damaged a transformer on S. Second Avenue on Monday afternoon.
PECO estimated that power to around 730 homes would be restored by 12:10 p.m. Tuesday. As of 12:14 p.m., many homes had their power returned.

The outage comes at a poor time, given the oppressive heat. If your house is still cool from the air conditioner running, authorities recommend keeping the windows closed to trap as much cool air as possible.
If you come to an intersection with traffic lights out, authorities said to treat it like a four-way stop sign.

Residents are also encouraged to check in on elderly and sick neighbors, even as the power returns.
