Lansdale resident John Marcante Elected to Board of Cradles to Crayons

LANSDALE, PA -- Lansdale resident John Marcante has been elected to the board of directors of Cradles to Crayons-Philadelphia.

Marcante is the chief information officer and managing director of The Vanguard Group. He was honored recently as a recipient of the Forbes CIO Innovation Award for 2016.

The West Conshohocken-based nonprofit is a member of the Cradles to Crayons national network of regional nonprofits, which provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations – in Massachusetts, the Chicago metropolitan area (opening later this year) and the Greater Philadelphia region – with the essential items (e.g. clothes, diapers, toys, books, and school supplies) they need to thrive.

“As a volunteer as part of Vanguard’s ‘Days of Caring’ community outreach commitment,” Marcante noted, “I’ve had an opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to serve tens of thousands of children in-need annually. I see a common thread in the success of Vanguard, the world’s largest mutual fund company, and Cradles to Crayons. It’s all about putting 'people first' and ensuring they have the best chance of success,” he said. “I look forward to being able to help make a difference in an organization like Cradles to Crayons.”

A graduate of Penn State University and St. Joseph’s University (MBA), Marcante has received Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leader Award, Institutional Investor’s Top 50 Tech Leaders Award, and Fox School Technology’s Leader Award. He is a member of the Evanta Advisory Board and co-chair of its 2015-16 Philadelphia CIO Summit.

Marcante and his wife, Robin, reside in Lansdale. They have three children – Ryan, Jenna and Matthew.
