Late Phoenixville Fire Chief Named 'Champion Of The Community'

A tip of the cap to Brian Gallagher.

Former Phoenixville fire chief and pillar of the community Brian Gallagher received another honor on Sunday for his many years of service to the borough.

Gallagher was named “Champion of the Community” for 2015 by the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation.

Gallagher’s three daughters, Amanda, Alyse, and Ashley, along with including Lou Ann Allen, were on hand to accept the award on his behalf.

The Phoenixville Fire Department noted the following on his career:

Brian dedicated over 40 years of volunteer service as a firefighter to the Phoenixville area. He joined the Kimberton Fire Company as a “junior” at the age of 16, then Joined Phoenixville Fire Department four years later. Brian served in many capacities while in Phoenixville, most recently he served as Deputy Chief. Brian’s most notable role was as a mentor to our juniors and rookies, guiding them through their early years in the fire service. Brian also served many years as President of the Northern Chester County Fire Chiefs Association, where he worked closely with the Health Foundation to secure grants for area fire departments. The grants were used to fund equipment purchases directly providing for health and safety of our community, such as automated external defibrillators (AED) and equipment and materials to teach fire prevention and safety in our communities.
