Vincent Price’s turn in this 1968 historical horror flick is subtle and serious—and superbly sadistic. Set in 17th-century England amidst the struggle between Cromwell and the Crown, Price plays Matthew Hopkins, the man tasked with persecuting witches. The tables turn when his actions incur the wrath of a soldier in Cromwell’s army. Despite its low budget, the film boasts exceptional English period detail. Not rated. 86 min. Authentic 35mm presentation.

Also known as The Legend of Drunken Master, director Lau Kar-leung conducts Jackie Chan at the height of his powers in what many cite as the greatest martial arts film ever made. The plot revolves around a foreign syndicate trafficking in ancient Chinese artifacts, but the film’s jaw-dropping kung-fu sequences speak for themselves. The final action scene alone took three months to shoot. Rated R. 102 min. Rare 35mm presentation of the Hong Kong release.
