My Career Transitions Announces its First Speaker for 2018
On Saturday, January 13, 2018, My Career Transitions presents “Fit the Culture. Get the Job.” You will learn to identify your own values, articulate them, and support them with examples from your work and life experiences. You’ll also find out how to understand the true values of an organization that you think you’d like to join. If your values align with the company’s, you’ll have a well-researched green light to proceed with the application process at this employer.
You’ve met all the requirements for that coveted job. You presented top-notch interpersonal skills during the interview. And your work experience promises stellar performance. Why, then, did the company hire a candidate less experienced than you? The strongest job candidates today have discovered that a sea of changes reaches far beyond competence, and experience is rapidly taking hold of the hiring process. It’s called “culture fit.” And those who fit the company’s culture, along with the skills and experience profile, are first in line for getting the job.

About My Career Transitions:
My Career Transitions is an organization for professionals in the Greater Philadelphia Area that helps job seekers navigate through the career transition process so “you’re not alone”. Our group is all about “people helping people” and our events are free thanks to our volunteers and our sponsor.
Through the generous support of Penn State Great Valley, our organization offers free industry speakers each month. Our meetings are held at the Penn State Great Valley Campus on Swedesford Road in Malvern, PA.
Penn State University alumnus Bart Ruff founded My Career Transitions (MCT) in 2005 and led the organization until 2013. PSU alumna Annamarie Walter succeeded Ruff as head of this dynamic group. Over the past five years, MCT has helped more than 5,000 area professionals navigate their job transitions. MCT operates without funding, relying on support from Penn State Great Valley in Malvern, PA, and the efforts of volunteers who “pay it forward” with time and talent. Meetings take place in partnership with the Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society. An average of over 150 people attend each monthly meeting. The Philadelphia Business Journal ranked MCT the #1 Networking Association in Greater Philadelphia for 2016 and 2017.
