Nearly $90k Raised For Phoenixville Toddler Run Over By Tractor

"His body was torn apart. He (was) fighting for his life," his mother said of the horrific tragedy. That's when the community stepped in.

On the fateful morning of Monday, May 25, 2015, Talan Wolstenholme’s life was changed forever.

The Phoenixville toddler was run over by a tractor.

“His body was torn apart,” said his mother, Elisha. “He (was) fighting for his life.”

In the wake of the accident, his mother described the massive extent of the horrific injuries which the boy suffered:

Talan is missing large amounts of skin in his abdomen, leg and arm. Talan has had surgery on his bowels, intestine and colon, he had enough stomach muscle to cover the abdominal cavity. He does not have enough skin to stretch where it was sheared off, he has 4 superficial wound vacuums that are acting as skin. Please pray for his fight against infection, most of his left arm is missing, he has rods, wires, pins and is missing nerves, cartilage and almost his entire elbow. His leg is missing bone as well, he has a rod and pins with a large piece of his shin missing. He has a breathing tube, 2 broken ribs and his lower lungs have been slightly deflated.

Massive medical bills came with those injuries, as Talan and his family began the long road to recovery.

They started a GoFundMe campaign, with $100,000 as their goal.

That was in May. From the beginning, Talan’s family knew they had a fighter:

“Talan is a true ninja,” the campaign for him reads. “For those of you that know him well, he is fighting bad guys all day and believes he has special powers.

Now it’s December. Nearly 1,000 people have donated $87,191 in the past six months in support of Talan’s battle.

“It was truly awe-inspiring to see this community rally behind Talan and his family,” Talan’s family said online. “The amount of money raised is absolutely amazing and will go a long way in helping with Talan’s medical bills and helping with everyday expenses as Elisha continues to be by Talan’s side during his recovery.”

In August, he started outpatient therapy, which he attended five days a week. He’s also learning to stand and walk without support.

And perhaps most incredibly: the ninja warrior is getting ready for the holiday season.
