New Phoenixville Community Center Gets $1.5 Million In Funding
The new complex, which will be located at Friendship Field, will include Parks and Rec headquarters, a nursery school, and more.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The borough has received a $1.5 million donation to help build the new community center, local legislators announced Tuesday.
The new complex, which will be located at Friendship Field, will include the headquarters of the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Gingerbread House Program nursery school. The Senior Center, which was originally supposed to be located here as well, is no longer a part of the project, officials said.
There will also be room for more than 3,100 square feet of multi-use space. All told, the center will be around 34,000 square feet.

Local legislators said that the new infrastructure is vital to support the rapidly growing Phoenixville area.
"This is wonderful news for Phoenixville," State Rep. Warren Kampf (R-157) said. "What was once a struggling former manufacturing community has been transformed. But with that change has come a need for an increased ability to provide the services this community deserves."

“As a thriving town that draws residents from throughout the region, capital improvements are needed," Corbin added. "The new community center is necessary to better serve our citizens."
All three also expressed gratitude to Gov. Wolf administration for "seeing the value in the project," as Kampf noted. The funding came through the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
