There were some tense words at the Phoenixville borough council meeting Tuesday night, but no final decision was made on the proposed development on the property on 701 Main Street.

The Council discussed the issue and may choose to vote on it at the next council meeting on November 10.

The Planning Commission previously recommended the Council deny the application, by a vote of 7-0, from West Chester-based D L Howell and Associates Inc to add 22 new townhomes to an open space filled with mature trees near Route 23.

Given a range of concerns about the new development - the destruction of mature trees, the incongruity of the development with the existing neighborhood, and the impact on traffic and parking - D L Howell could decide to submit a new proposal.

If they did, there would be another delay while their proposal was analyzed.
