Olympic Gold Medalists Lead Phoenixville Swim Camp
Some of the greatest to ever do it were in Phoenixville over the weekend.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A pair of Olympic gold medalists led a very special swim camp at the Greater Phoenixville Area YMCA over the weekend.
Bobby Finke, who won gold in 2020 in the 800 meter and 1500 meter freestyle, and Nick Thoman, who won gold in 2012 in the 4x100 meter medley relay, led the sessions.
“It’s not every day that young swimmers get to stand on the pool deck and learn from Olympic champions, and that kind of access can change how a kid sees the sport and themselves,” Aimee Smith, Executive Director of Programs and Aquatics at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA, shared in a statement.

More than 100 swimmers, aged 9 and up, were in attendance.
They were joined by former Phoenixville YMCA swimmer Anya Mostek, an Ivy League champion swimmer at Harvard University who also competed at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.

“What makes this weekend even more special is that one of these Olympians is one of our own," Smith added. "Anya came up through the Phoenixville YMCA swim team, and having her back to coach the next generation shows every swimmer here just how far they can go.”
The two day camp focused on the freestyle on Saturday and the backstroke on Sunday.
