Parrish Launches Bid To Represent Phoenixville In U.S. Congress

Parrish, a West Point graduate, will face West Whiteland Township Supervisor Joe Denham in the primary.

A challenger has launched a bid to run against U.S. Congressman Ryan Costello (R-6), who represents Pennsylvania’s 6th district including Phoenixvillle and parts of Chester and Montgomery Counties.

West Point graduate Mike Parrish announced his bid for the 2016 election in June, but only recently gained the support of State Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery), a prominent Democrat.

Parrish will face West Whiteland Township Supervisor Joe Denham in the Democratic primaries.

Parrish holds a Master’s in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford and an MBA from Penn’s Wharton School of Business.

Costello was named a “Young Gun” by the National Republican Congressional Committee in 2014. According to PoliticsPa.com, this indicated ”impressive campaigning, the achievement of certain benchmark goals, and adherence to conservative values.”

In the 2014 election, Costello handily defeated the Democrat’s nomination, Manan Trivedi, by 13 percentage points - 56 percent to 43 percent.
