Phoenix Village Art Center Gets New Executive Director

The Phoenix Village Art Center in Phoenixville has announced their new Executive Director.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The board of directors of the Phoenix Village Art Center has selected Dr. Carl J. Bean, Ed. D to fill the vacant position of Executive Director, they announced in a press release Friday.

He is currently the director and curricula developer for the Art Center’s successful “Movers and Shakers” summer camp program and will assume the new role immediately, the Center said.

Bean brings more than 15 years of educational and artistic experience, having served in a variety of instructional and administrative positions at Indiana and Kutztown Universities, Montgomery County Youth Center, the Wayne Art Center and the Art Institute of Philadelphia, the release states.

“Having Carl Bean as our new ED is exciting," Board of directors president Joan Beregi said. "The Art Center is facing many challenges at the moment and the board is confident that he can lead us to solutions. His background is impressive and his resume shows that he has been down many of these roads before. We are very much looking forward to his tenure and success.”

He also operates Bean Pottery in Parkerford Pa., a working art studio producing handcrafted pottery and ceramics for sale and display. He participates in several juried shows each year, according to the release.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity at Phoenix Village,” said Bean in a statement. “The Art Center means so much to Phoenixville and has always provided great programs for kids and adults. I look forward to being part of the Center’s continued growth and prosperity, and to being part of the greater Phoenixville arts community.”

The non-profit Phoenix Village Art Center is located on 207 Bridge St in Phoenixville.
