Phoenixville Affordable Senior Housing To Be Addressed Tuesday

The new proposal would bring a 50-unit affordable senior housing complex to Phoenixville.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Borough officials will discuss an affordable senior housing proposal in the borough at a council meeting on Tuesday night.

Chester County developers, the Hankin Group, are hoping to build on borough property at 115 Buchanan Street, which is the site of the former Public Works building.

The development would include 50 units, officials said.

Hankin has asked the borough to contribute the land to the project through a Pennsylvania Housing and Finance Authority deed, where delayed payments would be paid over the course of 35 years.

Further details on the project are expected at the council meeting Tuesday night, which the public is invited to attend.

It would be the second major affordable housing project in the borough recently. SteelTown Village, which suffered a serious setback during a devastating fire earlier this year, began construction in 2017.

The meeting will take place at 351 Bridge Street at 7 p.m. Council chambers are on the third floor.
