Charles H. Henzie, 88

Charles H. Henzie, 88, of Phoenixville, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 surrounded by loving family.  

He was the husband of Phyllis (nee Flasher) Henzie. Charles and Phyllis married on June 7, 1941.

Charles was born May 20, 1923 to Charles B. and Rebecca Williams-Phillips. He was the youngest of four children. 

Charles served in the U.S. Army and later was captured and became a prisoner of war in Italy and was held in Munich, Germany. After being Honorably Discharged, he was employed at C. Raymond Davis as a Construction Superintendent until his retirement.

Besides his loving wife, Charles is survived by two sons: Charles M. Henzie, husband of Mary Kay, and James H. Henzie, husband of Sandra; and four grandchildren: Christopher Paul, Sean Charles, Paige Nicole and Maygan Jo Henzie, all of Phoenixville.

A service and burial were held Friday, Aug 19, 2011 in the Chapel at Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles' honor to the Alzheimer’s Association: 399 Market Street Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.  

Arrangements were with Alleva Funeral Home, Inc.

Ethel Walker McCabe, 80

Ethel Walker McCabe, 80, of Phoenixville, died Aug. 20 in Phoenixville Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas M. McCabe.

Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Rose (Reiter) Walker. 

Mrs. McCabe was a 1948 graduate of Phoenixville High School, and a member of the National Honor Society. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Royersford Spring Co. for 11 years until she retired in 1993. 

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Phoenixville. Ethel and her husband had been foster parents for Catholic Social Services from 1961 to 1973, having fostered eight children over those years. 

Mrs. McCabe was a diabetic for more than 65 years, and was very active at the Diabetes Support Group at the hospital helping those who needed help. In the past she was also a Brownie leader locally in Phoenixville area. 

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Gerald Walker. 

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Thomas R., husband of Marlene McCabe, Lorton, Va.; Michael, husband of Margaret Ayres, Norristown; two daughters, Patricia Davis, Springfield; and Sally McCabe, wife of Stan Pokras, Philadelphia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; one brother, John Walker, Bel Air, Md.; one sister, Joan Walker, Phoenixville. 

Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday Aug. 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main St., Phoenixville. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. from St. Ann Chapel, 604 S. Main St., Phoenixville with Rev. John J. Newns officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
