PHOENIXVILLE, PA —The Phoenixville Area School District and several local partners have announced a series of vaccine clinics for students ages 5 through 11 in the Phoenixville community.

The school district is partnering with the Gateway Pharmacy, Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville Emergency Management, Phoenixville Office of the Mayor, Valley Forge Fire Company and West-End Ambulance on the initiative.

Organizers said a clinic will be held at each local elementary school in order to help elementary-age children feel comfortable.

The first clinic is scheduled from 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for Manavon Elementary School students, and will be held at the Manavon/PAELC Gymnasium, 2 Phantom Way.

Three more clinics will be held in the next nine days, offering students their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, currently the only vaccine available to children under 18 years of age.

Sixth graders are encouraged to attend the clinic this Thursday — for Phoenixville Area Early Learning Center and Phoenixville Area Middle School students — at the PAELC/Manavon Gymnasium, 1 Phantom Way.

Parents with children at multiple schools are asked to sign up at the school of their youngest child.

Clinics offering local children their second dose of the vaccine will be held between Nov. 30 and Dec. 9.

According to the school district, parents must register for a specific date and time slot for their child or children to receive the vaccine. This will be done through the Gateway Pharmacy appointment system.

Parents are asked to read the information on the log-in page and select ONLY the first dose appointment date and time. Parents also are expected to complete a consent form—which is available in English, Portuguese and Spanish — and present it at the registration table.

The clinic is not open to other family members and no walk-ups are permitted.

Pediatric care-certified paramedics and EMTs from West End Ambulance will be on site at each clinic, organizers said.

High school student volunteers from the National Honor Society also will be on hand at the clinics to assist and help make students feel comfortable with games and entertainment.

Organizers said they are allotting six to 10 minutes per student to get their shots.
