The Three Musketeers
Being There
The Three Musketeers
- A witty 1973 take on a beloved 1844 tale. Philadelphia's own Richard Lester (A Hard Day’s Night, Superman II) blends classic swordplay with his trademark understated humor to create the ultimate swashbuckler. A stellar cast of heroes (Michael York, Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain) and villains (Charlton Heston, Faye Dunaway, Christopher Lee) is rounded out by brilliant comedic turns from Raquel Welch, Spike Milligan, and Roy Kinnear. Rated PG. 106 min. Blu-ray presentation.

The Ruling Class- One of the blacker English satires you'll see starts as an outrageous comedy, segues into a musical, and ends up in a really dark, tragic, symbolic place. In other words, a perfect piece for Peter O'Toole. Director Peter Medak's 1972 film boasts a host of great British character actors, including Coral Browne and Alastair Sim. Not rated. 154 min. 35mm screening.
Being There
- Peter Sellers in the role of his lifetime: a simple-minded gardener whose childlike, uncomplicated musings are interpreted as profound by a politically savvy tycoon (Melvyn Douglas, in an Oscar-winning role). This 1979 classic is the last great performance by the chameleon-like Sellers and the last masterpiece from director Hal Ashby (Harold & Maude, Coming Home). Rated PG. 130 min. 35mm showing.

Arthur
- A fabulously wealthy and witty inebriate (Dudley Moore) must choose between maintaining his happy but dissolute life or being disinherited after finding his true love (Liza Minnelli).Moore's 1981 performance is cited as one of film's greatest comedy turns; but it was Shakespearean actor Sir John Gielgud who won an Oscar for playing Arthur’s acerbic-but loving butler/confidant/guardian angel. Rated PG. 97 min. 35mm projection.
