PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Feb. 8 is officially "Philadelphia Eagles Day" in Phoenixville, as the mayor issued a proclamation Thursday.

The text of the proclamation traces the history of the franchise, citing its regional importance and influence all the way up to that fateful moment last Sunday night, when the Birds defeated the New England Patriots for their first Super Bowl title in history.

"Whereas, the Philadelphia Eagles, once considered the underdogs are now World Champions and the Lombardi Trophy has come to Philadelphia," the proclamation reads in part.
