Phoenixville Elementary Teacher Honored as Outstanding Art Educator

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- A Phoenixville Area School District teacher has been honored with an award from the Pennsylvania Art Education Association for her work.

Barkley Elementary School teacher Elizabeth Sims will be honored at upcoming conference in Philadelphia, PASD said.

At Barkley, the district said that Sims had launched a school-wide project called "Walls that Talk" where hall displays of student art filled the building.

She also works outside the school at Moore College as a lecturer and grant writer, the district said. She's helped launched a program that helps bring arts and literacy to high-need Philadelphia schools.
