Phoenixville Gets $148K For Recycling, Leaf Collection
Great news for Phoenixville, as it improves its environmentally friendly municipal services.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville is one of seven municipalities across Chester County to receive significant state funding to improve recycling and leaf collection, officials announced.
The borough will get a total of $148,733 to improve environmentally-conscious municipal services. Some possible projects include: leaf composting facilities, web-based programs to educate residents on recyclling, data collection systems being installed on recycling vehicles, improving curbside recycling, and more.
"These grants can go a long way in strengthening local recycling efforts and reducing the amount of waste going into our landfills,” State Sen. Andy Dinniman said in a statement. "In addition to expanding recycling programs and educating residents about the importance of sorting recyclables, the funds also help support environmentally friendly leaf pickup and composting efforts."

Across Chester County, a total of $1.4 million was awarded for similar programs, including $31,816 in nearby East Pikeland.
The money comes from the Department of Environmental Protection grant program.
