Phoenixville Hospital Adds Harvard-Trained Conestoga Grad To Staff

Phoenixville Hospital's newest orthopedic surgeon has local roots.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- Phoenixville Hospital's newest orthopedic surgeon has local roots.

Michael J. Messina, MD will join the medical staff and practice of Valley Forge Orthopedics, the hospital announced.

According to a biography from the hospital, Messina is a Harvard Fellowship-trained Shoulder/Elbow and Sports Medicine Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at the University of Colorado and received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine.

Messina grew up in Wayne and graduated from Conestoga High School and Penn State University, where he received a BS in pre-medicine from the Schreyer Honors College.

At Harvard, Messina was trained in comprehensive management of shoulder pathology on a full spectrum from sports related injuries to advanced arthritis requiring reconstructive, joint replacement surgery.

Messina will see patients in Phoenixville, Limerick and Paoli and will perform procedures at Phoenixville Hospital, as well as the Surgery Center of the Main Line and Surgery Center at Limerick, according to the hospital.
