"This was a pilot program that was arranged at the request of the school district. Chief Sjostrom and Mayor Speck eagerly agreed to the program in May in an effort to build on community relations and provide support for our youth. Nicole got to ride with several different officers for 6 hours a day Monday-Friday over the last three weeks. It was a great experience for Nicole and the officers as well. It was a pleasure for us to be able to fulfill this program for Nicole and we wish her much success on her future education and career."

Mahia is planning to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania next year, where she plans to major in criminal justice, police said.
