Phoenixville HS Teacher Named 'Heart Of Learning' Award Winner
Congratulations to Mrs. Elizabeth Houseman!

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- The Phoenixville Area School District announced Wednesday that Elizabeth Houseman was named the Citadel Heart of Learning Award winner for Chester County Elementary teachers.
Houseman is a second grade teacher at East Pikeland Elementary.
Houseman is an exemplary teacher, and has made such a positive impact on the hundreds on the hundreds of students she has taught over the past eleven years.

“Liz’s tireless efforts in the classroom and her contagious enthusiasm is incredible," said Robyn Spear, East Pikeland principal. "While she focuses her lessons on reading and math, she focuses her teaching on growing her students.”
The Citadel Heart of Learning Award recognizes excellence in the classroom by honoring those teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of their students.

Winners at the elementary, middle, and high school level were selected from the fifteen county finalists representing all of the school districts in Chester County, along with the Chester County Intermediate Unit and private schools.
“Thank you to all in the District," said Alan Fegley, Superintendent. "You are all making a difference and helping all children achieve and reach for their full potential.”
The announcement was made at the May 3rd banquet at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern. Along with the beautiful hand-blown engraved glass award, Mrs. Houseman received a prize package and a $1500 award.
Nominations for the Citadel Heart of Learning come from parents, students, or other staff. Forty-eight teachers from across Phoenixville Area School District were nominated for the award.
