Do you agree with what was proposed Tuesday night?

The Phoenixville borough council considered raising taxes at its meeting on Tuesday night, according to reports.

The council agreed to advertise the 2016 draft budget on Tuesday, which would allow for a 4.51 percent property tax increase, the Pottstown Mercury said.

A net deficit of $167,806 remains in the borough’s budget, which will need to be covered before the draft can be approved.

“There may be things on here that won’t happen,” Borough Manager Jean Krack said, according to the Mercury. “There may be some changes that occur. That’s the process that we follow.”

The council also considered adding a 29th police officer, which officials reportedly said is necessary given the continuing increase in the borough’s population.
