Phoenixville Man, 63, Former Navy Commander, Passes Away

Phoenixville's Stephen Mark Carr was a Commander in the U.S. Navy and a huge fan of Minnesota Golden Gophers football.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Stephen Mark Carr, age 63, husband of Debra A. (Wallgren) Carr, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, September 11, 2017 in his home. Born on October 5, 1953 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Carr. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by two daughters, Elizabeth Mary and Dana Marie Carr. In addition to his wife, Mr. Carr is survived by two sons, Brian M. Carr of Phoenixville, PA and Scott E. Carr of Phoenixville, PA; one sister, Joan Carr of Davis, CA; and his Aunt, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carr received his Bachelor's Degree in 1975 from the University of Minnesota and his Master's degree in 1985 from the Naval Postgraduate School. He was a Supply Officer in the United States Navy, and retired as a Commander after 21 years of service. He more recently worked as an IT professional for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Mr. Carr was a member of the Vietnam Veteran's of America, Chapter 436, and was a huge fan of the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at the St. Ann Chapel, 604 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. John J. Newns. Burial will be held in the Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN. Friends will be received from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA or on Thursday morning from 9:30 am - 10:45 am in the Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Vietnam Veterans of America by visiting vva.org/donate. Condolences may be made by visiting www.PhoenixvilleFuneralHome.com.
