Phoenixville Man Honored At 'Black Engineer Of The Year' Awards

Congratulations.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- A Phoenixville man and PECO employee has been recognized with a prestigious honor by a national engineering body.

Dayton Duncan was honored with a “Modern Day Technology Leader Awards” at the 2016 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Conference held recently in Philadelphia.

“Dayton (has) my deepest congratulations,” said Craig Adams, PECO president and CEO. “These awards represent the ongoing dedication of our employees who are driving innovation and advancing smart energy for our customers.”

Duncan, an eight-year PECO employee, is the company’s lead underground transmission system engineer. He also has served as regional engineer installing electric service lines for residential and large business customers. A strong commitment to community service and volunteerism, Duncan achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, served as a Mathematics Adjunct Professor at Temple University and has been an active “Big” for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The BEYA STEM Conference brings together students, college administrators, recruiters, engineering and IT professionals, scientists and high-level decision-makers from the corporate, government and military communities in an effort to broaden diversity in this country’s technical and scientific work forces.
