Phoenixville Mayor Condemns Trump

The mayor said he supported "Trump free zones" popping up all over the country in the wake of Monday's controversial comments. Do you agree?

It appears that Donald Trumps has, at long last, crossed the line.

In the wake of his latest comments on Monday that all Muslims should be banned from entering the United States, mayors from cities around the country are declaring “no-Trump zones.”

In Phoenixville, Mayor Michael Speck seems to be on board with the idea. He said on Facebook Tuesday:

As the Mayor of the Borough of Phoenixville, PA. I fully support this idea and encourage all Mayors across this Great Nation to declare “ Trump free zones “ as our way of saying your hate is not welcomed here Mr. Trump.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter similarly issued a statement wishing that Trump and his opinions stay away from the City of Brotherly Love.

“If I had the power, the only banning that would be done is that I would ban him from Philadelphia,” Nutter said, according to NBC Philadelphia. “We don’t have any room for that kind of stupidity here.”

There does not seem to be a legal precedence for banning an individual from a city, and it appears that most mayors are expressing “Trump-free zones” as a way of reinforcing their own distaste with the real estate mogul’s divisive political viewpoints.
