Phoenixville Officers Honored For 'Life-Saving Heroics': Report

In two October incidents - a respiratory failure and a knife fight - quick thinking by Phoenixville's finest saved lives.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA - Four Phoenixville police officers were recently honored for what officials termed ”life-saving heroics” in two separate incidents, according to a report.

Officers Thomas P. Hyland, Sean A. Knapp and Officers Kyle A. Place and Elizabeth Glennon were recognized by the borough council last Tuesday, the report states.

Hyland was the first person of the scene of an October 22 incident where a man was suffering from respiratory failure, according to the Daily Local News. Hyland found and used an automated external defibrillator, and with Knapp’s assistance, the man’s life was saved.

Days later, on October 25, Glennon used her background as an emergency medical technician to help save a victim from a stabbing fight on Bridge Street, the report states. Assisted by Place and using quick thinking in a unpredictable situation, they were able to save the victim’s life.
