Phoenixville Outfitter Offers Firearm Defense Safety Course

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — French Creek Outfitters is holding a series of courses designed to introduce you to the safe use of defensive firearms.

Courses will be held on Friday, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Attendees may complete the course using either a pistol, rifle, or shotgun, the business said. The same weapon must be used throughout the course. Each course has limited space - 10 slots - and costs $300.

Here are a few things that will be touched upon:

• Introduction to the defensive mindset
• Physical and psychological effects of defensive firearms use
• Navigating the legal landscape and social ramifications
• Interacting with law enforcement
• Practicing the correct, safe draw stroke and firearms presentation
• Executing emergency and tactical reloads
• Shooting controlled pairs and "Stop Shots"
• Combining shooting, movement and shooting behind barriers
• Defensive techniques with Rifle (pistol caliber only) and Shotguns (slugs only)
