Phoenixville Police Crackdown On Thanksgiving Eve Activities

Police made numerous arrests for street fights, urination, pumpkin thefts, open container violations, and protesting a towed car.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Phoenixville Police Department was busy on Wednesday night, issuing numerous citations and making several arrests for a wide variety of a booze-fueled hijinks, aggression, and violence.

Police deployed 13 officers, including two bike officers and two officers in plain clothes. Police described the large crowds as "generally well-behaved."

At 2:58PM, a resident in the King Terrace Apartment complex reported that one of her neighbors has been smearing ketchup on her door and putting toothpaste on her door knob. The woman believes she knows who is doing it but has not caught her in the act.

At 4:23PM, police responded to an accident on Rt. 23 in front of Phoenixville Hospital. A 61 year old Exton woman claimed that the car behind her was following her too closely so she “brake checked him.” The driver of the checked car slammed into the back of the Exton woman’s Mazda 6 with his Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep driver, a 57 year old man from Pitman, NJ was issued a citation for following too closely and the woman was issued a ticket for careless driving.

At 9:51PM, a 21 year old man from Collegeville was walking downtown drinking a can of Miller Lite beer. The man was issued a summons for the open container ordinance.

At 11:01PM, police towed four cars that were illegally parked in the designated Uber/Lyft pick-up zone on Bridge Street.

At 11:04PM, a 24 year old Limerick woman was walking downtown drinking a can of Coors Light beer and she was issued a summons for the open container ordinance.

At 11:12PM, police responded to the report of a couple arguing in a parked car in the McDonald’s parking lot. During the argument, the 23 year woman put her hand in her boyfriend’s face and told him to “talk to the hand.” Her 24 year old boyfriend slapped her hand away and smacked her face in the process. The boyfriend was issued a summons for harassment. The couple lives together in Reading, PA.

At 11:35PM, a 26 year old Mont Clare man was walking downtown drinking a can of Budweiser beer and was issued a summons for the open container ordinance.
At 11:37PM, a 27 year old Reading man was drunk and fell down in the 300 block of Bridge Street. The man could not stand up without assistance and was arrested for public drunkenness and released when he was sober.
At 12:06AM, a 24 year old Pottstown woman was drinking beer from a clear Solo cup in front of the Steel City Café. The woman was issued a summons for the open container ordinance.
At 12:08AM, a 21 year Pottstown man was drinking a bottle of Coors Light beer in the 100 block of Bridge Street and was issued a summons for the open container ordinance.

At 12:12AM, two 23 year old men from Norristown parked their car downtown and got out with two open cans of Four Loko malt liquor they were drinking. The men were issued summons for the open container ordinance.

At 12:12AM, a 25 year old Collegeville man was unsteady on his feet in the 100 block of Bridge Street and was arrested for public drunkenness and released when he was sober.
At 12:42AM, an officer observed a man steal a pumpkin from the front porch of the Mainstay Inn. The 21 year old Phoenixville man was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and directed to return the decoration to the porch.

At 1:04AM, officers observed three men fist fighting and wrestling at the corner of Bridge Street and Gay Street. The men were drunk and uncooperative so they were arrested for public drunkenness and released when they were sober. The men, all of Phoenixville, are 21, 21, and 22 years old respectively.

At 1:52AM, officers observed a 29 year old Pottstown man stumbling around downtown. The man was arrested for public drunkenness and released when he was sober.

At 2:04AM, officers observed a man verbally accost and shove a passer-by on the sidewalk in the 100 block of Bridge Street. Police intervened and arrested the 23 year old Pottstown man. He was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and released to a friend at the scene who drove him home.

At 2:15AM, an intoxicated man approached Sgt. Sutton in the 200 block of Bridge Street and demanded to know why his fiancé’s car had been towed. The officer explained that it was parked in an Uber pick-up space. The man, 26 of Philadelphia, became belligerent and started yelling obscenities and racial slurs. The man refused the officer’s warnings to desist and he was arrested for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was later released to his fiancé at the police station.

At 2:18AM, officers observed a man peeing on the sidewalk on Bank Street. The 24 year old Collegeville resident was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and released to a friend who lives nearby and let him stay at her apartment for the night.

At 2:24AM, an intoxicated man interfered with the 2:15AM arrest of the Philadelphia man who was causing a disturbance. The 25 year old Norristown man claimed he was an attorney and wanted to represent the man being arrested. He refused several warnings to back away and at one point he slapped a bystander who was trying to persuade him to leave the area. The jailhouse lawyer was arrested for public drunkenness and was released when he was sober.
