Phoenixville Police Note Lifesaving Effectiveness Of Narcan In Borough

Several Chester County municipal police forces, including Phoenixville, have reported using the drug with lifesaving effect in the early months of 2016.

"The unfortunate pandemic of opioid and heroin overdoses in Pennsylvania has not left Chester County unscathed," Phoenixville Police said. "Now, Narcan is available to the public without a prescription."

ACME Markets recently announced that the Narcan nasal spray will be available over the counter in its Pennsylvania pharmacies. The cost for a two dose pack is about $155.

Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute, in partnership with the Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services, will be holding a Community Naloxone Training on Saturday, May 21 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

The training is free & will take place in West Chester at 600 Montgomery Avenue.
