Phoenixville Priest Gets Up Close View Of Pope Francis

Several locals were a part of history during Pope Francis’ visit to the city.

One such individual was Father Newns, the pastor at St. Ann’s in Phoenixville.

In the photo above he is in the second row, to the right of the priest of the camera.

Officials are calling the law enforcement effort for Pope Francis’ visit this weekend “historic.”

“A massive amount of regional planning went into the Pope’s visit,” said the Horsham Police Community Services on Facebook. “We are being told this was the largest security effort in our history as a nation.”

Throughout the region, traffic was less severe than expected, especially in the suburbs. The forewarned logjam in Montgomery County, and at regional rail hubs like Norristown and Lansdale, never happened.
