Phoenixville Ranked 63rd Best School District In PA

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville has been ranked the 63rd best school district in Pennsylvania for 2019-2020.

The ranking was released Monday by data compiler Niche, which analyzes various educational statistics to prepare ratings on both public and private institutions.

Phoenixville placed 8th in Chester County. It finished just behind local district Methacton (59) and just ahead of Hatboro-Horsham (72).

Niche gave Phoenixville an A rating overall. It also received A letter grades in the following individual categories: Academics, Teachers, College Prep, and Clubs and Activities.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

The top-ranked school district in Pennsylvania is Tredyffrin-Easttown. You can see the top 100 here.

More than 20 Niche users have weighed in on the district, providing a variety of feedback and reviews.

"From the outside looking in, Phoenixville Area School District is a very nice school. Sometimes it wasn't all dandy, but I recieved a good education and I feel pretty prepared to graduate and take on the world. If I could change one thing, it wouldb e to give the benefit of doubt to the (students). So often one person would get in trouble and ruin things for the rest of us. Overall good school with great teachers and awesome opportunities!" one reviewer wrote.

Another added: "Phoenixville is an incredibly diverse district - racially, economically and politically. The school system reflects that and the changes that have taken place in the area within the past decade. The middle and high schools have competitive course offerings, but often fail to effectively teach them or make them available to all students because of poor guidance counselors or teachers. The school's administration is distanced from its students, but the culture of the high school itself is a positive one. I expect to see more academic success in future years, especially considering budget expansions."
