Phoenixville Renaissance Student Accepted to Yale

Jeremy Baron, a student at Phoenixville's Renaissance Academy, has been accepted to Yale University.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- Jeremy Baron, a student at Phoenixville's Renaissance Academy, has been accepted to Yale University as part of their Early Decision admissions process.

Yale, based in New Haven, Connecticut, accepted a mere 6.7% of those who applied in 2016, according to Renaissance.

“I was completely ecstatic upon receiving my letter from Yale,” Baron said. "I was initially a little concerned when waiting to hear from the university, but I hoped that my hard work over the last four years would truly pay off. I would like to give special recognition to Mrs. Sheyna Land, RA ELA teacher, for assisting me with my admissions essay.”

Baron lives with his parents, Gerald and Lorraine Baron, in Spring City, according to Renaissance. The school said that in addition to excelling in all academic areas, Jeremy has taken on many leadership roles in activities both at Renaissance and the community.

He serves as the Vice President of Key Club, which has 62 students, and is a Squire, a mentor who tutors students who are struggling academically. He is active in the Boy Scouts and presently preparing to be an Eagle Scout as well as being the Senior Patrol Leader, the highest position in the Scouts, the school said.

“We are extremely proud of Jeremy's drive to succeed, his achievements, and his character," Michelle Boyd, RA Upper School Principal, said. "We are so pleased that Yale University has also recognized his academic strengths, but also the contributions he has made to RA and the community at large through his work in both Key Club and the National Honor Society. He will undoubtedly go on to do great things at Yale and beyond. We are thrilled for Jeremy and look forward to his future successes."

Baron added that he will most likely choose Yale next fall, where he will study economics. In the future he wants to be a financial analyst and work for either a non-profit organization or a larger American corporation.
