Phoenixville School Taxes Up 17 Percent In Last Decade: Report

PHOENIXVILLE, PA – A new report tracks increases in taxes in several local school districts across the Philadelphia area over the past ten years.

In the report, the Philadelphia Inquirer charts out tax increases levied by districts in Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks counties over the last 10 years.

Rising taxes levied by school districts is commonplace and should be, to some degree, expected, given economic flux, enrollment increases, new technology, and other district needs to modernize education.

In the Phoenixville Area School District, taxes have increased 17.9 percent over the past ten years.

The district's most recent millage rate hike means homeowners in the district will see a $127 increase in their 2018-2019 taxes.

The increase is less than most nearby districts, and far less than leaders like Upper Dublin, which has seen a 47.9 increase over the same time period.
