Phoenixville Teacher Honored With 'Heart Of Learning' Award

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Out of thousands of nominations for more than 1,200 teachers across Chester County, Phoenixville's Scott Golightly has been chosen as the 2018 winner of the Citadel Heart of Learning Award. Now, he'll be honored at an upcoming banquet recognizing their hard work.

The award is given each year to one teacher from each of the county's public school districts, as well as one from a private school and one from the Chester County Intermediate Unit.

“We’re looking forward to honoring these tirelessly dedicated teachers at the 17th annual Citadel Heart of Learning Award banquet,” said Mike Schnably, senior vice president of Citadel, which sponsors the award. “Each year it’s an extremely special celebration. Citadel is thrilled to recognize the educators who are molding the youth of the Chester County community.”

The school district issued the following note about their winner:

"Mr. Golightly was nominated by multiple teachers, parents, and students, who cited his ability to connect with and help every child in his class reach their highest levels. We couldn't be prouder of Mr. Golightly. He is a perfect representation of what it means to be an exceptional teacher.

Winners receive $500 to use in their classroom.
