Phoenixville Woman, Longtime Basketball And Softball Coach, Passes At 65

Phoenixville's Karen Falini was a beloved basketball and softball coach for Sacred Heart in Royersford.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- Karen F. (Long) Falini, 65, wife of Frederick A. Falini, of Phoenixville, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 in her residence. Born on July 13, 1951 in Phoenixville, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Harriet (Smith) Long.

Karen was a Class of 1969 graduate of Spring-Ford High School. She was a long time basketball and softball coach for Sacred Heart in Royersford. She was a quarter midget mom and was very active with Honey Brook Speedway, where she had formerly served as secretary. She enjoyed sewing and was owner of Karen's Sewing in Phoenixville. Most importantly, she loved time spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Falini is survived by her children: Frederick D. Falini, companion of Sue Borzumati, of Pottstown, Christopher J. Falini, of Kennett Square, Theresa A. Falini, fiance of Harry Cusick, of Royersford and Dave G., husband of Lauren Falini, of Kennett Square; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 11 am at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville. Officiating will be Deacon George S. Harmansky. Memorial contributions may be made in Karen's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
