Phoenixville's Blobfest Is This Weekend: What To Know

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Phoenixville Blobfest, commemorating the classic 1958 movie "The Blob" that was filmed at the Colonial Theatre and throughout Phoenixville, is scheduled for this upcoming weekend.

The three day event gets kicked off on Friday night with a stage show, followed by the famous "run out" of the theatre into the streets. The event begins at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, a streetfair will take over Bridge Street from 11 a.m.t o 5 p.m. with a wide variety of special guests, vendors, musical acts, items from movie set of The Blob, and more.

During the day, a series of films will be shown inside the Colonial, including:

  • The Blob and Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D (noon)
  • 4D Man (12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.)
  • Steve McQueen: American Icon (12:30 p.m.)
  • Dinosaurs! (2:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.)
  • Spook Show featuring Daughter of Horror (4:30 p.m.)
  • The Blob and I Married a Monster from Outer Space (8 p.m.)

And on Sunday:

  • The Blob and Demon with the Atomic Brain (2 p.m.)

Numerous special guests will also be in attendance at the events throughout the weekend, including actors and directors from The Blob, Steve McQueen's biographer, and directors of other films. A list of guests is included here:

  • Ghoul A Go-Go
  • Bill Jersey – Art Director for The Blob
  • Matt McGinnis – writer, MST3K

  • Wes Shank – caretaker of the Blob
  • Marshall Terrill – author and Steve McQueen historian
  • Kris Yeaworth -son of The Blob director Shorty Yeaworth

There will also be a Merchant Facade Contest which includes 14 local businesses getting into the spirit of the festival downtown. You can vote for your favorite at the pinball machine under the Colonial Theatre's marquee.
