Phoenixville's Colonial Theatre To Begin $8 Million Expansion

The Colonial Theatre owns the adjacent Bank of Phoenixville Building, and will be adding two smaller theatres within that space.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- The Colonial Theatre has announced what they are terming a "long held surprise": $8 million wroth of renovations will commence on the storied, iconic theatre on April 5.

A public groundbreaking event will occur on that day, and the public is invited to join the board of directors, campaign team, staff, volunteers, members, and donors as the theatre reveals the details of the plans and celebrates the renovation.

This event is free and open to all members of the public. It does not require a reservation or ticket to attend.

The Colonial Theatre owns the adjacent Bank of Phoenixville Building, and will be adding two smaller theatres within that space.

The historic bank building includes 11,000 square feet. A spacious lobby and more expanded amenities will be included in the new addition.

Bridge Street which will be closed between Main and Gay Streets for the celebration on the 5th, a Tuesday, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The regularly scheduled, 7:30 weekly film will still occur that evening following the Groundbreaking.

In April the Colonial Theatre will launch a separate website (www.BankontheArts.com) with detailed information about and ways to give to the Bank on the Arts capital campaign.
