PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Some good news amid all the bad news: Phoenixville's music program has once again been honored with a national recognition for excellence.
It's the third year in a row that the district's music program has been honored with the NAMM Foundation's prestigious Best Communities for Music Education Award.
"Congrats to all of our amazing music educators and to our community for recognizing and supporting the importance of music in all of our lives," the school district said in a social media post announcing the recognition.

The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education, the NAMM Foundation said.
Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an "exceptionally high" commitment to providing access to quality music education.

In order to qualify for the award, schools must provide information regarding funding, graduation requirements, facilities, participation in music classes, and more.
The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas reviews all submissions.
