Police, along with the state Game Commission, helped to hunt down the fox. The Game Commission took possession of the fox for testing, authorities said.

Authorities urged local residents to be mindful of their pets when walking in the area. Foxes are native to the area and quite common, and rabies can be easily transmitted.
