Returning The Phoenixville Mural To Its Former Glory

A fundraiser concert will be held to support a project to reinvent the Phoenixville mural and Renaissance Park.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- Splayed across the huge wall at the corner of Bridge and Main Streets, the iconic Phoenixville mural welcomed visitors downtown for two decades.

All that changed, however, just last year, when the mural began to crumble and had to be removed from the wall abutting Steel City Cafe. An unadorned white wall stands in its place.

Now, in an effort to create a new mural and to reinvent the Renaissance Park at its foot, the Mural Reinvention Community Coalition is holding a fundraiser concert with some of the region's top musical acts.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 23 at the Steel City Coffeehouse downtown. The night will feature opening performers Chris Holt, followed by Cliff Hillis. The Bannister Effect will go on at 8:30, followed by headliner J.D. Malone and the Experts.

The headliners are noted for their ferocious performances. During an event at Steel City that took place while the mural was being removed, the band was asked to tone it down slightly for fear that the music would knock more pieces of the mural loose.

All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the mural and the park. The night will also feature an auction of donated musical memorabilia and limited edition prints of the original mural.

General admission tickets are $25. To purchase a ticket and for more information, see here.
