Roughly 15 New Parking Spots Added To Downtown Phoenixville

The parking situation in Phoenixville just got a little bit better.

Could a park-able Phoenixville be on the horizon?

About 15 new parking spots have been added along Main Street just below Bridge Street, offering downtown-area motorists some much needed relief.

Talks to offer parking options on Main Street have been in the works for about a year. It wasn’t easy to finalize the situation, according to Borough Councilman Michael Kuznar.

“There were complications in getting the spots added within borough staff,” Kuznar said “I was happy to have helped resolve them.”

Residents identified parking, along with traffic, as the most critical issue facing the borough in a survey published in Patch in June.

Kuznar, along with the Borough Infrastructure Committee and its head, Chris Bauers, worked to make the new Main Street spots available in late September.

More parking spots are also now available adjacent to Main Street behind Molly McGuire’s.

Borough officials are also looking into the possibility of adding additional spots, and maybe even a parking garage, although Kuznar stressed that those talks were still very much in the planning stage.

“It’s not something you can reach out and grab,” he said.

One possible location that has been discussed is the Price Street lot just behind Bridge Street’s Xpress Pizza.
