UPDATE: Two Pedestrians Hit, Seriously Injured On Route 422 Thursday
A helicopter landed on Route 422 to take one of the victims straight to the hospital as Route 422 eastbound turned into a parking lot.

Two men were struck by a driver on Route 422 in Upper Providence on Thursday afternoon after they had pulled over to the side of the road near the Route 29 interchange.
According to 6ABC, the victims are an 18-year-old man and a 43-year-old man who remain unidentified. The 18-year-old had run out of gas and his stepfather, the 43-year-old, had come to bring him gas.
At about 4:25 p.m., a woman driving a sedan struck both of the men as they were filling the tank of the car, authorities said.

First responders from several local municipalities responded to the scene and 422 eastbound was shut down, according to officials.
A PENNSTAR helicopter landed on the roadway and lifeflighted one of the victims to a nearby hospital. Two others were taken to the hospital by the Friends Ambulance of Royersford.

Traffic was delayed for hours as motorists sought alternative routes. The road did not reopen until around 8 p.m.
Royersford Fire Department, Township of Upper Providence Department of Fire & Emergency Services, Black Rock Vol Fire Co., and Pennsylvania State Police also provided assistance at the scene.
