Schuylkill Canal's Lock 60 To Host Open House

Visit the Locktender's house, learn about the history of Schuylkill River navigation, and much more at the upcoming open house.

MONT CLARE, PA — Want to learn more about the Locktender's House at Lock 60 and the history of navigation in the Schuylkill River?

An upcoming free event, organized by the county, aims to give residents a richer understanding of local history. Here's what organizers have to say about the event:

"Stop by the Locktender’s house to learn about the history of the Schuylkill Navigation and its industrial heritage related to the local and regional community. One of the Schuylkill Canal Association’s volunteers will be available to provide information and answer any questions. Meet at Locktender’s House; weather permitting. All ages; free, donations accepted."

The event will take place on Feb. 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Lock 60 is located at the Schuylkill Canal Park at the end of the towpath - 400 Towpath Road - in Mont Clare.
